Proposing changes
After picking a topic and getting articles that supports that topic, as well as having to draft and revise our proposal. We as a team realized that our topic was too specific so we needed to broaden what we wanted to research. We needed to revise the topic that we chose as the topic of intake and output recording on a cardiac floor was too narrow so we switched it to just the importance of recording intake and output in general as this would get us more information. With the help from our clinical Instructor and our teacher we were able to broaden our topic and make it something that would help us find all the information we’d need.
Our findings will impact the nursing practice because keeping track of intake and output levels is important. When that information is incorrect or wrong them it can impact the patient we care for. For example, if someone is on fluid restrictions but throughout the day no one is putting what that patient has had to drink while also having an IV with fluids running could impact that patient. That patient could end up intake more fluids than they were supposed to because we were keeping track. So finding way to improve that aspect or identifying any other complications of documenting the I&Os is also important so that we can change it.
Our team process as gone well, we have met outside of class time to work on this project and when someone isn’t pulling their weight then we all talk it out and collaborate on who needs to do what and when things are due. We’ve also been seeking them help of our clinical instructor and teacher to see how we can improve our paper and project. We have been doing really well with this, working as a group on this project and being able to work on the floor where we can see what the problem were talking about it and how it can be fixed is really interesting to see and be able to put into a real picture.
