Appraisal and synthesis (EBP step 3)
During the process of the finding evidence and analyzing what we found, we found that our topic is more common than we thought. There is more information about postpartum depression and what that means/ what it can do to mothers than I knew. When we had to analyze what we found and go through the literature that we wanted to use, I wouldn’t say that we changed our minds on the topic that we picked but it definitely opened up our minds to new questions and if we needed to rephrase what we originally thought about what we were asking. What we found on our topic opened my eyes to what these women need, there are more women that go through this than I originally thought. My findings will definitely impact my future nursing because I’ll treat people like I have no clue what they are going through and we all experience things differently as well as come from different backgrounds so there is no reason for me or anyone else to questions why someone is acting the way they are. I would say that my team members and I did come to the same conclusion that the information we found, however helpful that it is, there are set backs to them so we would definitely need more information and studies to be done but we should take into consideration what was found. I would say that there weren’t any conflicts between my team as we all live together and if something was wrong or needed to be done we went about it in a nice manner and asked what we needed to. If we didn’t agree on something which it seemed like we all agreed on most things, but if we didn’t then we’d talk out the different side to the conflict and come to a joint conclusion.
