Preparation for licensure (ATI Maternity CAT)

While taking the maternal newborn ATI adaptive quiz I noticed that there were a lot of questions that I knew because we had gone over most of the information but there were questions that even though I knew them, I still second guessed the answers. This is something that I have been trying to work on, not changing my answers. It is easier when I can’t go back and talk myself out of why my original answer is wrong when really, it’s right but I still tend to do this especially when I don’t fully know the information.

I think overall this quiz went better than I thought it would because the maternal information I liked learning about more and it was fresher in my mind. There were questions we had never talked about and that I didn’t look up before taking the test, which was hard but that just means for next time I need to study that material more or look out for that. This test I did take more breaks, there was a break that I did maybe 30 questions and left it for a day because that was all I had time for and then another day where I did another 40 questions and saved the rest for another time. I think this helped because I wasn’t getting as distracted and I was able to focus on the questions at hand and not what was going on around me.

  1. For your last CAT, plan a time when you can take it all in one sitting with just brief breaks – this is more realistic for NCLEX. With NCLEX, you won’t be able to walk away and return another day.
