Hybrid-HW 4
One peer suggestion was that I could give some background on Yoshino and Hallward to give them credit like I did with Davis in the second paragraph. This suggestion was helpful because it allows me to get credit to those people where credit is due and it makes my paper better as well. I will work this idea into my paper by giving background when I first talk about Yoshino and Hallward. Another observation from the peer editing was that I should connect how there are inequalities among groups that need to change and suicide with Hallward and the gender issues in prisons with Davis. If I can connect those two together it would strengthen the point about inequalities and how if we change them it might lead to the change of suicide. I can work this idea into my paper by either adding onto the Hallward paragraph and the “lethal health threat” or I can add a new paragraph on how these two ideas connect. Another suggestion was to expand on the covering and how it can lead to assumptions, stereotypes, and even shame. If I expand on this topic then it can connect to how Davis would agree with the topic and how if we change this covering it’ll help lesson these topics. This suggestion was helpful because it’ll help strengthen this point. A suggestion from my peer editor was if I could find any examples on how we can change the rate of suicide and how we view the alliance across the color line and the way we treat each other. This suggestion to find examples of how this is changing would help my paper because there will be facts that making the change and it working, will help show people that we need to change this. I learned from the peer review process that the edits made by the editor are there to help make my paper better not to make my writing look bad. Also that it is okay to write what you feel and think about the paper instead of trying saying everything is good. With the writing process you can write what you feel and let out your opinion and it’s okay. Don’t be afraid to write what you feel even if people may not agree with what you think.

“Don’t be afraid to write what you feel even if people may not agree with what you think.” It is so important to hear honest feedback. The imperative thing is to deliver the feedback in a helpful or neutral tone–to keep in mind that the writing is not the person b/ c the writing is “in process”–
Very good insights into your work, H!
